THESE SOUGHT NOT GLORY BUT THEIR COUNTRY GOOD

This is a quote which is on the Veteran's Memorial.  The granite stone was dedicated  and originally placed in town in 1922 to honor veterans. The war memorial was moved

this summer 2013 to the front of the Town Office.  A group from the Ira Baptist Church, and Ira residents prepared the site and poured a concrete base for the monument. Bowker and Sons from West Rutland set the stone in place.

The names on the stone are from the Civil War through the Korean War. In 2013 names

will be added to the stone to bring the Memorial current and the stone will be cleaned.

A flag pole was purchased by the selectboard and installed by Mark Coderre.
